The Confederation Bridge: Prince Edward Island, Canada

The Confederation Bridge

Spanning the Abegweit Passage of Northumberland Strait, and linking Prince Edward Island with mainland New Brunswick, Canada, the Confederation Bridge is the longest bridge over ice in the world.
It is not dainty, it is strong, imposing, sturdy and muscular. Probably the bridge where we would least like to run out of gas.
Since the bridge's opening in 1997, potato production on Prince Edward Island has increased dramatically.

As you approach this bridge you may think it leads you nowhere, but into the sea. Only when you get to the edge of this bridge do you realize you are above the sea. Bridge to Nowhere is the continuation of the Atlantic midway through Norway. The length of this unusual bridge, that resembles a viaduct from a cartoon, is 8 km. The best time to take a ride on it is during a storm because you’ll have the opportunity to see enormous waves breaking on the rocks.

Banpo Bridge, Seoul

A marvelous bridge in Seoul was built in 1982 in the city centre, above the river Han.When the level of water rises, the lower platform is flooded and closed. This bridge is both a pedestrian and a cycling path. What makes it special is a large number of water pumps (38). Besides pumps, on each side of the bridge there are sprinklers which spray 190 tons of water per minute, so the bridge looks as an enormous fountain.

Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Newcastle
